Follow your dreams

It's not long now till my first baby will be born...only 2 weeks to go - hopefully ;) and in this time of waiting, I am going back to painting and drawing. I'm trying a textured paintings, witch is something I never attempted for a children's illustrations, but I'm really happy with the effect. So this one is motivational... I will always support my daughter in everything she wants to do (let's just hope her dream will not be to become a youtuber ;D).

@Picturehooks workshop with limericks

I attended workshop in Edinburgh organised by Picturehooks and we developed a character and a short storyboard based on limericks we were given. I choose this lovely limerick:

There was a young pig from Racine
Whose botanical interests were keen.
He planted a sock
in a bright window box,
where it blossomed and sprouted a bean.

And on the picture there you can see the little pig in an action of planting his own sock ;) I really enjoyed to try and illustrate a limerick, I think it's a great way how to illustrate a story when your own writing is not the best ( like mine ;).

Slugboy saves the world, book cover competition

I entered the competition to design book cover for Floris books - Kelpies Design & Illustration Price. This is book aimed on 8 - 12 years old children and just form the small paragraph I read in the brief, it is very funny book written by Mark Smith.  My book cover was unfortunately not shortlisted, but anyone interested to vote for 10 finalists, can do so here.

This is the summary of the book provided by Floris books.

Thanks to an unfortunately tasty-looking radioactive garden slug, 11-year-old Murdo McLeod is now the world’s worst superhero. His two powers are pretty unique: the first is sliding up walls. The second is secreting slippery slime from his skin. (Yes, just as disgusting as it sounds.)

In a world where superhero competition is  fierce, Slugboy doesn’t make the grade. No one wants help  fighting bad guys from someone with a horrible habit of (quite literally) messing things up. He’s so underrated, in fact, that when an evil mastermind devises a plan to capture all the other superheroes, Slugboy isn’t even on his list.

Now, Slugboy has to use his not-so-super and oh-so-gross abilities to free the other superheroes and save the world. Let’s hope he doesn’t slip up.

How to draw more - paper as a table mat ;)

I don't draw much lately,mostly because I'm doing college work which is more or less digital. So I'm trying to find ways how to get drawing back into my life - big paper as a table mat seems to do the trick ;) I'm planning on swapping pencils for different medium, so I'm forced to use different techniques. It's really good way how to spend that annoying time when you are waiting for file to save or upload ;D
